Main Goal
Within the Wheat Agro-Industry Breeding Team, we are seeking a Breeding Assistant. The objective of the program is to develop new varieties for the Limagne Wheat sector. In this context, the primary responsibilities of the position include conducting genetic analyses and actively contributing to the breeding activities of the program. This role requires close collaboration with other team members, the Cereal & Pulse Breeding teams at Limagrain Field Seeds, and the genotyping laboratory.
Job description
You design and implement various types of genetic analyses in close collaboration with the program manager:
Planning of genotyping programs
Communication and support for the interpretation of marker results, including quality control of marker data
Development and implementation of Genomic Selection
QTL detection and association studies
Monitoring of major genes in marker-assisted selection schemes
Development and management of internal or external scientific projects
You contribute to breeding activities independently or in support of the program manager:
Selection of plants in marker-assisted breeding schemes
Field evaluation of wheat lines
Participation in selection decisions for the program
You participate in seasonal activities in the field or in growth chambers with the entire team:
Sowing, sampling, harvesting, and crossing, primarily
Supervision of seasonal staff
Skills: what we expect of you
A PhD or an equivalent degree in plant breeding or a closely related field is required.
Strong knowledge of quantitative genetics methods and tools, as well as applied statistics, is essential.
Proficiency in software for data analysis, management, presentation, and communication is required.
Previous experience with marker-assisted selection would be an advantage.
Proven analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
You have a strong scientific rigor and are known for your critical thinking.
You value teamwork and are open to your environment.
Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French is mandatory.
