MAIN GOAL :
In order to strengthen our Native Trait team, within our Traits & Technologies Division, we are looking for an Envirotyping Research Engineer for our Research Center in Chappes (Auvergne, Puy-de-Dôme, 20km from Clermont-Ferrand) for a 12 months fixed-term contract, to be filled as soon as possible.
The objective of the team is to support Limagrain Field Seed's breeding activities to improve the tolerance of crops to various abiotic stresses, relying notably on phenotyping, envirotyping, quantitative genetics tools and crop models. You will strengthen activities on environmental characterization and understanding of Genotype * Environment interactions.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Your main activity will be envirotyping on a species but you may also help working on other crops.
You will provide support on the following aspects:
- Develop and implement methods to characterize variety adaptation to different target markets - taking into account Genotype * Environment interactions
- Implement a methodology to optimize trial networks and assess trial network adequacy regarding markets
- Develop tools to visualize results
- Integrate of all these steps into existing tools
You will work closely with the Breeding and BioStatistics teams and will rely on the team's internal expertise developed over several years. You will rely on several domains such as phenotyping, envirotyping, quantitative genetic tools and culture models.
PROFILE :
You have a Master or an Engineering Degree with a specialization in Agronomy, Ecophysiology and/or BioStatistics.
You're proficient in R. You're fluent in English and have a good level in French.
Rigorous, dynamic, serious, you have good organizational and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working as part of a team, but you also know how to work independently during your missions. Able to make proposals and be proactive, you will be eager to work with a dynamic and internationally recognized team.
This 12-month fixed-term contract, located in our Research Center in Chappes (Auvergne, Puy-de-Dôme, 20kms from Clermont-Ferrand), is to be filled as soon as possible.
