In our Research Center in Chappes (63), near Clermont-Ferrand, France, within our Field Seeds Research organization, we are looking for a Quantitative Geneticist to join our Data Analytics platform, on a one-year contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in investigating the impact of various breeding strategies on genetic gain and diversity in plant breeding programs. The position primarily involves the use of simulation tools to model and analyse the outcomes of different breeding approaches.
The main task within this role will be to:
- Utilize simulations to assess the consequences of different breeding strategies on genetic gain and genetic diversity in plant populations.
- Apply advanced statistical techniques, such as the Mixed Model Equations to analyse simulation results and extract meaningful insights.
- Translate findings to useful tools and recommendations for breeders.
- Engage with colleagues on the Data Analytics Platform to create awareness of new tools and approaches for optimizing breeding pipelines.
- Contribute to scientific narrative within the Limagrain group in general and the Field Seeds division.
We are looking for a candidate with the following prerequisites:
- PhD in Quantitative Genetics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in R programming, with knowledge of other programming languages considered an advantage.
- Experience and success in data analysis for genetic evaluations in the domain of Plant or Animal Breeding is essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in collaborative research environment.
- Proven ability to problem-solve, foster innovation, influence, and collaborate with diverse, and global teams.
- Fluency in spoken and written English (working language)
