Main Goal
Limagrain Field Seeds Research (LFSR) is recruiting an Artificial Intelligence (AI) researcher to join the Breeding Methods team within its Data Analytics platform based in Chappes (63), France.
The platform’s goal is to test and develop digital tools for data analysis and decision-making, as well as methods and recommendations to support breeders and supporting functions in creating more efficient varieties at a faster pace. The approaches rely on various fields such as statistics, machine learning, and quantitative genetics.
As an Artificial Intelligence Project Manager, you will contribute to the deployment of AI by developing methods and decision-support tools for research activities related to plant breeding. The scope includes genomic selection/prediction. Traditionally utilizing mixed linear models, genomic prediction forecasts the performance of varieties based on genetic data, significantly enhancing breeding program efficiency.
The objective of this fixed-term contract is to test new deep learning approaches for genomic prediction. Various network types will be tested, developed, or combined and applied to heterogeneous data sources (genomic, environmental, etc.).
Job description
You will be supervised by a senior AI researcher within a multidisciplinary and dynamic team tasked with developing innovative breeding support methods.
Your main responsibilities include:
Familiarizing yourself with the principles of genomic prediction.
Conducting a literature review on deep neural networks for genomic prediction.
Proposing one or more genomic prediction methods using neural networks that integrate multiple data types (genotypic, environmental).
Extracting plant breeding data for Limagrain's species of interest.
Implementing these neural networks in Python (using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras) for deployment on GPU servers.
Training and testing these networks on plant breeding datasets.
Comparing the networks' performances and recommending an architecture for genomic prediction.
Presenting results through reports and presentations.
Collaborating with experts across various domains.
