Main Goal
The Limagrain Europe Research Center, based in Chappes, near Clermont-Ferrand (France), is looking for its future Breeder on a permanent contract to reinforce its Maize teams and take responsibility for breeding lines and hybrids adapted to Limagrain's Seed Maize Sector, as well as creating lines for the early grain market.
Job description
Working with the program manager, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering lines and hybrids for the seed maize industry
- Delivering lines for the early grain market in Western Europe
- Define the short, medium and long term objectives of the 2 lines selection projects
- Define the short, medium and long term objectives of the hybridization project
- Develop a good understanding of the commercial stakes and the links with the actors of the Semolina Maize industry
From an operational point of view, your missions will be to:
- Provide hybrids and lines for your market segments
- Decide on the crossing plan to produce experimental hybrids, decide on the experimental trial network, and ensure trial ratings.
- Manage and take charge of line selection activities, trial visits and ratings.
- Manage the activities of a breeding nursery in Limagne
- Analyze data with the appropriate tools and make selection decisions.
- Optimize the selection strategy by integrating new technologies.
- Promote innovation and maintain a high scientific level of the breeding programs.
- To develop relationships with corn breeders from other programs and with the actors of the semolina corn industry.
- Propose and follow up budgets and investments for your perimeter and justify any deviations.
- Contribute to the recruitment, retention, training and development of the team members under your responsibility (permanent and temporary)
- Be exemplary in the respect of safety rules in the company's work and ensure that all team members do the same
Profile
You have a PhD or Master Degree (Agri/agronomic Engineer, or Master 2) in Plant Improvement, with strong knowledge in plant breeding, genetics and agronomy.
Your academic and/or professional background has enabled you to acquire skills and master the use of software for data analysis and management, presentation of results and reporting.
You are an excellent communicator, in both written and oral skills, mastering French and English languages. You are recognized for your ability to work in a team, in an international and intercultural environment.
Your rigor, analytical skills and organizational abilities will allow you to handle several projects and activities in parallel while ensuring a precise follow-up of your tasks.
A successful experience in a selection program would be a plus.
This position will require occasional travel in France.

This permanent position of Breeder (M/F) will be located in Chappes (63), France and is to be filled as soon as possible.
