Main Goal
Based in Almeria (Spain), you’ll take part of operational work of local team breeding team based in Spain (line selection, trials management, seed logistics, variety development). You will report to Senior Sweet Pepper breeder, located in Almeria and you will be part of Vilmorin Mikado breeding team (4 breeders).
As Sweet Pepper Breeder, you will manage several breeding programs targeting global markets. In that role you will be in charge of germplasm development and variety delivery for those markets and you will be in charge of strategy execution defined by Marketing and R&D Breeding.
Vilmorin Mikado as Limagrain Vegetables Seeds' business unit (incl. Hazera and HM.Clause), meaning that you will be part too of a large team of pepper breeders across the globe with access to important network of resources (stations, labs, technologies).

Job description
• Plan and execute breeding schemes
Participate to breeding operations (trial preparation, sowing, sampling and transplanting)
• Coordinate Crossing plans
• Selection & generation advancement
• Implementation and maintenance of data base management tools
• Data analysis & making reports
• Maintain close collaboration with colleagues from R&D and other departments withing VILMORIN-MIKADO and LVS, both in Spain and internationally.
• Significant travel abroad (20%)
Profile
• Ph.D or M.Sc in Genetics & Plant breeding & interest in molecular breeding techniques
• 3-5 years experience in plant breeding, genetics and plant physiology
• Passion for breeding
• Excellent analytical, practical, innovative, and creative skills, attention to details, with the ability to detect subtle differences between plants
• Ability to work under varying climate conditions indoors and outdoors
• Ability to work both independently and in international cross-functional teams
• Strong organizational and management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
• Must be proficient in Spanish and English language
